Keep Rob and Ash Afloat

Over the weekend of September 14th, Maple Ridge was hit by a devastating storm. This storm caused flash flooding in many areas, and sadly flooded the home of the Ford family: Ashley, Rob, Marlowe and Lola.
This apartment was a lifelong dream for Ashley and Rob. In May of 2018, after just recently settling in and making their home their own, their apartment was flooded from unauthorized renovations being completed above. This flooding resulted in the family of four being displaced and only being able to return in the last month. Coupled with a number of recent family health issues, including the passing of Ashley’s grandmother, and two close family members being diagnosed with cancer, this most recent flood is yet another tragedy that this family has to endure.
Despite purchasing a comprehensive insurance policy, Ashley and Rob were informed that their insurance provider did not offer this type of flood protection and therefore they have no coverage. The water from this flood is considered a Stage 3 contamination, meaning that absolutely everything touched by the water is now considered toxic and must be replaced, including walls, flooring, cabinets, and all personal items within the water line. This means that Ashley and Rob must pay for the restoration of their family home, along with the purchase of new furniture, and other household items. Due to the nature of the flooding, it will likely be upwards of several months before the restorations can be completed and during this time Ashley and Rob will be responsible for their current mortgage and associated fees as well as the cost of renting a temporary home. These costs are enormous and not something that could be foreseen and budgeted for.
Ashley and Rob are kind, humble, hardworking people. They are always the first ones to step up and help their friends, family and neighbours. Now it’s our turn to help them.
