Hi my name is Emily Ahmad. My good friend Jamie Herman started a dream a couple years ago of starting her own business. In 2019 she bought a vintage camper and spent months having it restored and redesigned as a food truck. She opened Looking Meadow Coffee Co serving all vegan, camper-made drinks and baked goods in Fall 2020 during a global pandemic. This hard working mother of 4 has stayed up late and gotten up early day after day for the past year to make her business a success. If any of you have had the luck of visiting her coffee camper, you know it is delight for your taste buds and there is absolutely no friendlier service in the coffee business. Plus, have you seen a cuter food truck?!? Unfortunately on July 25 when Jamie was leaving an event, she had a collision with her camper. It was sadly unrepairable and had to be totaled. Luckily the camper was insured, but the pay out was far under what the camper was worth, hasn't arrived yet, and doesn't compensate for the loss of income.

After borrowing more money, this past weekend Jamie drove to Kansas City to excitedly buy a new coffee camper. It wasn't her old camper that she desperately missed but she was eager to make it her own and get back to regular business. Tragically, the morning after the camper was parked in front of her home and a driver, not paying attention, rammed their car into it. Fortunately, the driver was unharmed but Jamie's dreams came crashing down again less than 24 hours of gaining hope again. The second camper had just been bought the day before so was not insured yet. The hope is that the driver's insurance will pay something. However, again it will likely take 1-3 months to be settled and will likely be far less than the investment and again not recover all the loss in wages. Jamie had been hoping to use income from this coffee camper to open a brick and mortar coffee shop in the future. She is devastated by these two huge setbacks so close together.
