BUDE PRIDE 2021 - We Need You !

Hello!

We are the directors of Bude Pride. We are a Not-For-Profit Organisation of local LGBTQ+ individuals, along with allies of the community, whose focus is to help promote identity & diversity throughout Bude and surrounding areas. Our aim is to encourage acceptance & tolerance; bringing everyone together in a celebration of visibility & equality.

Bude Pride 2021 will launch on Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th August at the Bude Castle Heritage Centre, and then annually in June (Pride Month) hereafter. An all-age inclusive event, spread across the Bank Holiday Weekend, fundraising for the community. Over the next 12 months we are going to support local schools to become more LGBTQ+ inclusive, within their learning and environment – Starting by improving upon their current literature and resources. As well as education, local mental health-related initiatives will always be at the heart of our fundraising – The team over at the Pearl Exchange are an exceptional example of this. We have the support of the Bude & Stratton Town Council, as well as the amazing folks at Cornwall Pride. This is the first time that an LGBTQ+ Pride organisation has stood up to offer the full community support and we are committed to full inclusivity, challenging mental health, stigma, and ultimately, acceptance. We endeavour to create a safer environment; inclusive of LGBTQ+ people, age, race, and ability, and to improve upon the network of support which is accessible to anyone. And you can help!

We’re reaching out to local businesses and individuals like you who can get involved in our first (of many) Pride events here in Bude. There are lots of ways you can get involved, but right now to make this happen, we’re looking for financial support. Hosting this event in a safe, fun and community-inclusive way comes at a cost. Thanks to the generosity of Sekoya Specialist Employment Services, we have secured funds to start the ball rolling, but to ensure the event takes place in the way the community deserves, we need your help.

Without more funding, Bude Pride 2021 is in a perilous situation. The last thing we want to do is cause disappointment to not only the people attending, but also the volunteers, performers and partnered companies we are working with. Please do help, anything is gratefully received and will go contribute to the message of unity & inclusivity, aligning with the future and positivity of our community. It’s been a really difficult couple of years for everyone, and we want to start bringing the moral of the community back up to where we know it can be.
