Karen Lindsey’s Recovery

Aloha Family, Friends, and Community Members,

Karen Lindsey, a wonderful, loving, compassionate, and generous mother, grandmother, and great grandmother loves her family and does everything possible to support them through the good times and the challenges in life.
Karen, 68 years old, is thankful to be alive after nearly dying from the dreaded Covid-19 Disease. She suffered from severe pneumonia, lung failure and multiple organ failures including acute kidney failure during the 90 days in ICU at Queens Medical Center. She was previously Medevacked from North Hawaii Community Hospital where she spent her first 3 weeks of hospitalization. The treatment was intense and recovery continues to be challenging. On multiple occasions Leabert, her husband, who spent all the time allowed with her, was told that she might not make it. He said the news was “devastating and difficult for the whole family to go through.”
One of her many doctors, Dr. Kuo-Chiang, stated “Although she is out of the hospital she is not out of the woods yet.” She has since been transferred to a special care facility on Oahu where she is currently undergoing extensive rehabilitation in order to re-learn simple tasks such as eating and standing.
The medical bills from her hospital stay along with her extended treatment in special care are beginning to add up. Our Family thanks you for your kind donations and continued Prayers and Support
