Kay's New Lung

Hello my name is Kay. I am a single mom of a beautiful eight year old daughter and I need a lung transplant.
The road here has been a challenge. I have been turned away by two transplant programs. As my condition has worsened, I was delisted from the transplant program which had accepted me. I thought I was at the end of my road.
Thankfully, the program at Duke has accepted me.
The doctors at Duke didn't blink twice when they met with me. They just said that I need a lung now. Their acceptance brought me to tears.
In a couple weeks, I'll leave my daughter and head to Durham, North Carolina where I hope to receive a new lung. The lung transplant program there is ranked 2nd in the US. Since my case is considered high-risk, I am relieved that I will be in good hands.
I must raise $15K in order to qualify for Duke's program. The funds are needed for my housing, food, transportation to and from post transplant appointments and caregiver expenses.
I dream about the day I can hold my daughters hand and take a walk with her without getting winded.
