Kaysia's Hurricane Harvey Fund

Donación protegida
** From Kaysia:
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone for so generously supporting me. I feel incredibly blessed and overwhelmed to have such good friends and to be part of such amazing families across the country. Thanks so much to Jon and Annie for initiating this incredible effort. Thanks to Jade, Maria, Meredith, Omar for housing me and trying to help me search through my apartment. Thanks to each of you for your help and kind words of encouragement. It means so so much to me that you have reached out to me to offer your help. Many many thanks to all my high school, Vassar, UMichigan, Yale friends and others who have chipped in even without knowing me. A huge huge thank you to my MD Anderson and Brigham families. I am so blessed and privileged to be part of both communities. I miss you and love you Brigham! Thanks all for helping me rebuild. I am truly grateful and plan to also give back to the many around me in a similar situation.
With love
Kaysia

** Update: We were able to raise over $8,000 for Kaysia in less than 24 hours! She clearly has an incredible group of friends and family in addition to the many people who were moved to contribute just by her story without ever meeting her.  Per her request, we will stop accepting donations past this $8,000 goal.  Thank you all again.  You have helped bring love and caring in a time of great need for a special person.

Hello everyone.  Our friend and colleague, Kaysia Ludford, is a hematology/oncology fellow at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas.  As you all know, Hurricane Harvey devastated the Houston area with flooding in the last couple weeks.  Unfortunately, Kaysia's apartment was among the flooded with waist-high water, and she lost everything she had.  She was able to salvage a few articles of clothing and her passport but lost just about everything else: her bed, mattress, couch, other furniture, computer, clothing, kitchen appliances and dishes, pictures and countless other items with both monetary and sentimental value.  Because she is Jamaican and is not a U.S. citizen, she has been told she does not qualify for FEMA assistance, and her family lives back in Jamaica.  Also, her insurance unfortunately would not cover flood damage.  She is a smart, earnest and and dedicated physician and more importantly a wonderfully kind, humble and compassionate person.   Please consider helping her with a contribution so that she can get back on her feet.
