Kaya's Degenerative Myelopathy

UPDATE 7/3/17: Kaya was just diagnosed with Degenerative Myelopathy. It is a progressive degeneration of the spinal cord. There is no cure. I am devastated beyond imagination. There are things I can do like physiotherapy in water, acupuncture, medications to slow the progression and keep him comfortable. This is not known to be painful but he is losing function in his back legs. This GoFundMe was originally created when he had a peri anal tumor removed and I thank everyone who helped us then. He recovered very well from that. This diagnosis is brand new and I pray and hope that those who haven't donated previously will consider helping us now. I am still interviewing and trying to find a day job since i am back in Toms River..nothing yet. I am singing w/ 2 bands but that is part time and I am barely scraping by. You can help just by sharing this campaign and liking it when I post on Facebook. The rest of this essay below was written back when he had the tumor. Kaya means the World to me. My beloved fur child, Kaya, has an appointment this Tuesday for a consultation with a well respected surgeon in Virginia. He has a peri-anal tumor that is suspicious. Prayers have been answered in I was able to get an earlier appointment. Much love and gratitude to all who prayed for us! My Kaya has been seeing his regular vet for other skin related issues and my Care Credit card is now maxed out. If I can raise the funds, the surgeon can hopefully remove this tumor and send it to be tested the same day as the consulation. Kaya's vet thinks it is very important to do this as soon as possible to rule out a malignancy. Kaya means more to me than anything in this World. He is my family. I only love God who created Kaya more than I love him.
I have been working several different jobs and singing to barely scrap by on my bills and Kaya's needs. I do not have the funds for this surgery or treatment. In addition, he also needs to be seen by an animal dermatologist for skin conditions he is battling with. The amount I am trying to raise is an estimate of the costs of surgery and other treatments he is going to need. He is 11 years old and has been in the best of health until now. I feed him only the highest quality food so this is all a terrible shock.
I had to run a GoFundMe previously for an allergic reaction Kaya had to Sentinel in Florida (coupled with my breaking my shoulder) with much gratitude to all who helped us during that storm. I have no choice but to reach out and ask every friend I have to please help in any way you can so that Kaya can have this much needed surgery and whatever treatment is recommended. I cannot worry about feeling any shame over running this. I am a dedicated dog mom and I will do anything to keep my Kaya healthy, safe and happy. He is the most amazing dog I have ever known. We rescued one another almost 8 years ago in Nevada, a day I will always cherish. Kaya has done therapy dog work for the elderly and is the epitomy of a gentle giant. Anyone who has met him knows this. And anyone who knows me knows how much he means to me. He is my World and my heart. Please help us if you are able. Even sharing this post with your friends helps a great deal. There are a lot of wonderful animal lovers in the world. God bless and much gratitude in advance and love from Kaya and me.
