Kay's BDay Hysterectomy 2020!

Hello Everyone,

I have been notified that I need surgery in the next 1-2 weeks!  I'm a Brown round wobbly boi who needs an emergent Hysterectomy! (Sidenote: I'm a Virgo about to celebrate my birthday in post-op recuperation.)

I've just been diagnosed with Focal complex hyperplasia with atypia, developing in hyperplasia with tubal metaplasia, involving polypoid endometrium.  In other words, I have pre-cancerous cells in my uterus walls that've grown and expedited. I will need to have a total hysterectomy. This means -- removal of my uterus, fallopian tubes, and cervix. The ovaries are not affected, the previous cyst (Oh, the notorious Cystina of July 2019!) has resolved. Now, there are new obstacles ahead. This wasn't part of my transition plan, so I am sad about this. 

SURGERY DATE: - CONFIRMED 8/27 THURS
While trying to find source of constant pain & intense bleeding in the last 2 years, we have found some answers!

Each trip to the OB/GYN & last year's medical stay debacle led to expensive treatment where I'm repeatedly misgendered, questioned about my body in ways that are not gender affirming, medical staff without cultural sensitivity re-assigning me, which places me and my partner in uncomfortable positions and advocacy. Like many in the U.S. empire during COVID, I am also tackling self-advocacy & medical debt. The pandemic impacted my income, canceling almost all of my events & engagements. I'm currently facing 40k in medical debt related to this surgery & searching for treatment. 

I'm blessed to receive a referral to a Reproductive Health Cancer Specialist. I am grateful for my beloved & chosen family for their support. I am blessed to find hope in treatment and to hopefully/finally receive relief. The surgery healing time if it remains laproscopic & without larger incisions is 3-4 weeks, with 6 weeks total internal recovery. 

Sadly, during this surgery + post-op, I have to miss event/gig opportunities in order to heal. My team and I will update this fundraiser as my medical journey pivots. Thank you for your patience as we navigate healthcare & medical industrial complex.
