My name is Kaimana. I am 17 and I am the 3rd child of 6. My parents are Rose and Kaulana Kaneakua. I am creating this GoFundMe account because my dad was asked to make a page so that his friends and family could help. Truth is, my parents aren't really going to ask for anyone's help unless they have no other choice. So instead, I wanted to do something that could help our family by setting this up for my dad.

I am creating this GoFundMe account because my dad was asked to make a page so that his friends and family could help. Truth is, my parents aren't really going to ask for anyone's help unless they have no other choice. So instead, I wanted to do something that could help our family by setting this up for my dad.
So recently we were shocked to find out that my dad who is 42, was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. He works as a road paver and for months he worked through the pain to provide for our family. He was misdiagnosed with a small and minor issue all those months leading up to his diagnosis until a few weeks ago when they finally realized that it was cancer. He is scheduled for an emergency surgery tomorrow Monday August 27th 2018 and will have a long road of recovery after that. My dad has been so positive through it all and puts on a brave face everyday so that we don't worry about him. He tries to stay strong for us although we see the pain behind his smile.
Meanwhile, although I am young, I know that the bills don't stop and medical bills add up too. My mom is doing whatever she can with side work but I'm sure it's not enough. I know everyone has their own struggles and that's just life, but I just want to do what I can to make it a little easier so that my dad can focus on healing and getting better. I realize that this may come at a bad time due to having to prepare for the hurricane and all but any donations will be appreciated.
