Kat’s ‘88 Accord

On June 26th, 2021, my brother Kat (Jacob) Howard was killed in a car accident that was no fault of his own.
He had been working on his 1986 Accord LX-I hatchback for almost a year now. He bought it September of last year with only 63,000 miles on it. That was his baby, and I helped him work on it multiple times a week, there were big plans for that car. This was the car he was driving at the time of the accident.
Well, a few months ago he had bought a 1988 Accord Sedan for parts, because it had been difficult to find parts for a 30 year old car, and because he was swapping the 5 speed out of the sedan into the hatch.
It had a blown motor, nice little hole in the oil pan, but everything else seemed to be working still. Right now, it’s in pieces as it was a parts car.
There is nothing left of the hatch, besides a radiator cap and some emblems I was able to get someone to save off the car. And I can’t come to terms with the fact that that car is getting turned into a cube, that was supposed to be Kat’s forever. (Technically, now it is, but you know what I mean.)
My plan now, is to rebuild the last car purchased by Kat, and build it into what she would have hoped in memory of her, who she was and everything she reminded us of each day.
I’ve begun purchasing components already and getting to work, I hope to have it finished before spring semester of college, but we’ll see.
