Katie's Breast Cancer Journey

Hello, my name is Sarah McKiernan and I am raising money for my lifelong best friend, Katie Jones. In January of this year, Katie found a lump on her breast and had it checked out. We were staying positive that everything would be fine, but on January 20, 2022, Katie learned that she has triple negative breast cancer, which is a pretty aggressive form of cancer. Her treatment includes chemo, a lumpectomy, and radiation. During these past few months Katie has worked as hard as she possibly could while also continuing to be the best wife, mom, sister, daughter, and friend. At the end of April, Katie's chemo started to really take a toll on her body and she ended up in the hospital twice, for multiple days at a time. Fortunately, her medical insurance is phenomenal so she hasn't had to stress too much in that aspect. On the flip side of that, Katie has started to listen to her body, has needed to take more and more time off from work, and isn't able to financially provide for her family as much as before. Her husband is working as much as he can, but thanks to inflation, it just isn't cutting it. As I'm sure all of you have experienced; groceries, gas, the cost of living in general, etc. has all been going up but people's wages are not. This is where we need your help! My goal is to raise at least $15,000 to help get Katie and her family through these next few months until she officially kicks cancer's butt. This money will help to buy groceries, gas, pay for rent, and continue to allow her children to live as normal lives as possible, hopefully through the rest of this year.
