Katielee's Fight Against Bone Cancer

Donation protected
Katielee is still NED (no evidence of disease) which is amazing.  2 1/2 years into her fight we were hoping to be past this and on to bigger and brighter days.  Unfortunately after 14 surgeries, 4 major, later she is still looking at more. Katie was one of the very first children in the USA to receive an internal prosthesis.  She has had to have the leg completely restructed 4 times due to  mechanical failure. Fact of the matter is everything they open her up it just adds to the damage of scar tissue and severe nerve trauma. At this point in time we are traveling to Pittsburgh up to 10 times a month. Between gas, parking, copays and medication we have exhausted every dime we've ever worked for. With this last surgery a few months back I lost my job with the high demands of her care. She cannot ambulate without me and I have to be on constant standby on the days she makes it to school to pick her up at a moments notice. Because of her lack of ambulation there is no bus to transport her, she is not able to walk steps at all, so I have to take her to and from school every day. There are weeks when we have $100 gas bill just from the constant back and forths.  She most recently lost her SSI supplemental income because she's been cancer free for over a year now. We are fighting to get it back, but that was the only source of income I had at the moment. There are days when it feels like it's a constant battle just to breathe. Her insurance has refused payment of multiple medications that she needs, one in particular  costs us $575 monthly. There are many on the list, that's just the most costly one. With all the negative it's hard to see the silver lining, but I always seem to find it. Katie is amazing, no doubt about it. Even with starting school over a month late this year she has maintained a 3.75 gpa. She, no matter the pain or exhaustion, makes the effort to make it there everyday unless she has doctors appointments. She had her Make-A-Wish granted this past August, and was able to meet 3 of her favorite actors and a new friend. We were flown to Atlanta,GA and spent the day with Norman Reedus, Jeffery Dean Morgan, Andrew Lincoln, and Nick Simmons. It was an amazing experience and have never met such amazing individuals. The fact that she is still alive and fighting the way she does is the biggest blessing of all. We are asking for any help that anyone maybe able to give at this time to help us thru our most trying financial time. Without the help of all of you we'd of never made it this far and I can't thank everyone enough. From our family to yours, Thank You!
