I've been working in healthcare as a clinical Music Therapist - Board Certified for 7 years. I've been performing and engaging in music - my entire life! As many (if not most) people can attest, the power of music is profound and apparent in the way it can regulate mood, aid in pain management, and serve to connect us socially and within ourselves, etc. While I have seen the effect of using various techniques for therapeutic intervention, (CBT, DBT, improvisatory play, "talk therapy," etc.) I feel committed to maximizing MY potential effect of serving in the world as a healthcare provider.
In my years of study and professional engagement, I've had some exposure to a specialized therapeutic treatment technique, through receiving, studying, and undergoing the Level One training of The Helen Bonny Method of Guided Imagery (https://ami-bonnymethod.org). I've been moved by the depth and comprehensive quality of the intervention, and as I re-design the possibility of providing better care to more people, more effectively, I see the completion of this course as a integrative step towards optimal performance.
In humble acknowledgement of my transitional state of employment, this course is very expensive for me at this time. Until more work manifests, I have challenged myself to connect to others who might be willing to support me in the pursuit of my educational goals.
