Katie Weber

As many of you know Katie went missing on December 5th during her morning walk.  As a recent rescue she was a very scared girl and didn't know the area well.  MDM, Sandy, Don and many Wakefield residents worked hard to bring Katie home.  Unfortunately it took a long 12 days and during Katie's survival mode she endured some tough times and had to undergo surgery for her injuries.  

Katie came home on her dad’s birthday, probably his best birthday gift ever!

Katie had an abscess that was infected on her neck. Her vets believe she was in a fight with another animal. It has been tested and they are waiting on results for which bacteria to determine which antibiotic Katie will need. The wound has been cleaned & is being drained. A CT scan was done and Katie does not have any trachea nor esophagus damage. She was negative for phenomena as well. All of her other cuts have been cleaned up. Katie is resting & being watched at MassVet and should be home with her mom & dad either tomorrow or Wednesday.

When her mom & dad were visiting with her today, she was curled up in their laps.

Katie's vet bill is $7,000.00.  Any funds raised above her vet bill will be donated to both the Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital Fund and Missing Dogs Massachusetts.

The community has been amazing during the last 13 days and as Stacy said, Katie is a Warrior!  For anyone who doesn't know our mascot is the Wakefield Warriors, we are the WARRIORS - this is Katie's hometown.

Katie has already endured Hurricane Florence earlier this year with her litter mate in North Carolina and thankfully found and brought to a rescue before finding her forever home with Sandy and Don.  It's time she lives the "good life" here in Wakefield.
