London Summer School of Voice
Don protégé
Hello everyone!
I am a classically trained soprano, born in Moscow, Russia. I developed my love for music from my parents, and am currently finishing my Master of Music degree at the University of Oklahoma (OU). In the last two years, I have been extremely fortunate in performing several roles at OU: the title role in Handel's Alcina, Sandrina in Mozart's La Finta Giardiniera, and Micaëla in Carmen just a few months ago.
In years past, I have attended and performed at several summer programs and festivals, including Harrower Summer Opera Workshop, the Missouri Orchestra Symphony Society, and Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre, and the Up North Vocal Institute. This summer, I have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to continue my studies at the London Summer School of Voice (LSSV).
London Summer School of Voice
LSSV is a three week program, during which I will have the opportunity to study with incredible teachers and performers such as Linda Esther Gray and Ian Partridge, just to name a few.
Studying in London presents a prime opportunity for learning about British song and operatic repertoire in the very place it was composed. My fellow students and I will be instructed in diction, applied voice, and acting, by internationally renowned performers. The trip to the G.F. Handel museum alone will provide me with access to rare primary sources on his compositional techniques and performance practices of the era. For those of you that aren't familiar with my love for Baroque music, this is a dream come true.
Why I need your help
While these programs offered amazing educational and performance opportunities, they are by no means cheap. Attending LSSV costs approximately $5,000, including airfare, lodging, and tuition. I have been very fortunate in receiving the Birkhead Travel Award from the OU Opera Guild in the amount of $400.
By donating, you will be helping me get one-on-one instruction from first-class performers. As only three students are attending the program this year, we will have the kind of intensive instruction that simply cannot be recreated in a university setting. These programs are also a great place to network with peers, and potential new teachers and directors. Your donations will help offset the costs of tuition and travel.
I would also like to ask you all to share this fundraiser on Facebook, Twitter, or any other social media forum that you may use. The more people know about this fundraiser, the more support I will have!
If you prefer send funds directly to me, please send me an email, and I'll contact you with my address!
If you have any questions for me, please don't hesitate to contact me!
A quick thanks
Thank you all so much for your support! There are several of you that have been there for me since the very beginning, and I'm immensely grateful for your support. Singing has led me to meeting many wonderful, incredibly talented and intelligent people, and I look forward to meeting many more. Thank you all for your help!
With gratitute,
Katia
