Hi friends-
Kati and I signed a lease for an awesome, new rental house in the North End. When we turned in our 30 day notice to vacate our current home (which we have been on month-to-month since March with the property management telling us the property may be torn down), we discovered that a stipulation on our contract requires a 45 day notice (YES, 45 DAY NOTICE), due on the 1st of the month. We submitted our notice on the 2nd (first thing Monday, the 1st was a Sunday), so the property management is putting us on the hook, making our 45 day notice start on November 1st and forcing us to pay rent through December 15. After talking at length with DJW, they wouldn't budge. This seems like a predatory practice, to say the least, by DJW Property Management. We are honest people that pay our rent on time, never miss bills, and play by the rules...the extra expense is going to sink us financially.
What we need is money. Rent at the DJW property is $895 per month, so one-and-a-half month's rent totals $1,342.50 plus the gofundme fee is 5%- $67.10. Total goal is $1,409. These guys are playing serious hardball with us. We've tried to appeal to common sense and fairness with DJW, but they refuse to come to some sort of agreement and we're kind of freaking out.
Since we don't like asking for handouts, we have a plan to reward you for your donation, as well as send a big middle finger to DJW- here goes:
If we meet our financial goal, we will move into our new home and keep the current one set up as a music rehearsal and recording studio until December 15th, and our band CRY will record a special winter themed album which will only be available to our gofundme donors. Renting out a house in the middle of winter is going to be real fun for DJW...
In conclusion- we wouldn't ask for help unless we were desperate, which we are. Please donate what you can. We humbly thank you for your help with our crisis. We can overcome this.
