Kathleen “Kathy” Reaney’s Funeral and Family Fund

I am saddened and devastated on the news that was given to me. My friend, Kathleen “Kathy” M. Reaney, known to friends as "Horsey" passed away peacefully at Brandywine Hall on December 11, 2020 in West Chester, PA. She was 62.  Kathy is survived by her daughter, Danielle Reaney, a young, strong woman who is handling this difficult time with grace.  Danielle was not only her daughter, she was her best friend.

I praise Danielle’s strength through this difficult time knowing that seeing her mother and holding her hand in person was prohibited due to COVID-19 restrictions set at Brandywine Hall.  It’s hard to grasp the hole that can leave one not being there in the end.  Danielle is a strong woman, but that doesn’t mean this was an easy time for either.  My prayers and thoughts go out to both Kathy and Danielle.

I write this message for all to have a small insight of Kathy’s life.

Kathy’s battle with cancer lasted 5 years, though a short time, it was a hard time for her.  She did set a goal when diagnosed back in 2015 and that goal was to watch her daughter graduate from high school and walk across the stage in 2020.  She was absolutely thrilled when that day came! Kathy was a fighter, but unfortunately her cancer didn’t let up. She is no longer in pain and will be missed dearly.

Kathy was a wonderful mother and a friend to many.  Kathy loved to tell stories and could make people laugh until they cried.  She was also an animal lover who had rescued many of her pets over the years.  Kathy was quite fond of her rescued horses Firecracker, Valiant, and Oreo, her two cats, Razzle Dazzle and Footprints. She loved and maintained them all until days before her move to Brandywine Hall.  It brought her joy to always be surrounded by loved ones and her pets.  It also made her smile beyond her pain to visit Assateague Island, MD.  There she would spend countless hours walking the trails, viewing wild horses and other wildlife.  In some cases… getting too close to the wild horses, but for those who knew Kathy… this was expected.

Her religious beliefs also brought her peace and guidance, one special prayer stood out for Kathy and that was the “Serenity Prayer”:

“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”

On the lighter side of her belief, in true Kathy words… she would often say:  “The party is on the other side.”

Kathy lived a life that was made just for her and what a life she lived in the short 62 years here with us.  I invite each of you to keep Kathy alive in your hearts. We were each touched by her presence and we are better because of that.

Thank you for being her family and friends and for making her life so meaningful.  Please share a story or two on her page for all of us to enjoy.

Thank you to everyone who will and has contributed to our GOFUNDME. We appreciate all the prayers that you have been giving Danielle.

The goal of the GOFUNDME is to assist Danielle with the funeral expenses, end of life costs and to assist Danielle in any way needed for her life expenses such as college or even simple living expenses.  I ask for those that can help, please do.

Thank you so much & God Bless you all.
