Kathie Gross Lost Home & Business

Donation protected
On Monday, October 9, my good friend Kathie Gross lost her home & business due to the Tubbs Fire in Santa Rosa, CA.  Her family didn’t have a chance to grab any items from their home and were left basically only with the clothes on their back.  Kathie is a very proud person and was not asking for help when I approached her on doing a fundraiser for her.  Kathie's home was in Coffey Park neighborhood in Santa Rosa.  Not only did Kathie lose her home, but she also lost her livelihood as her daycare business was in her home.  Kathie is battling with all the bureaucratic red tape, however she has no income now and could really use some help to get her life back together.   She also has to maintain her mortgage & insurance payments as well as the reduced property taxes.

Kathie is now in a temporary rental in Rohnert Park.  Please consider a donation of any size which will help her rebuild her life.   All donations will help and will go towards clothing, shoes, shelter, and food.

Here are Kathie's own words below that I would like to share with you.  Please contact me at:  [email redacted] if you have any questions and thank you so much for your generosity from my heart.

" In the early morning hours of Oct. 9, 2017, I felt unsettled. I couldn't sleep, the extraordinarily intense winds were whipping everything in the backyard around, making a racket. The house started filling with smoke; the electricity went out. Outside the smoke was so thick you could barely see across the street. Ash and lit embers were raining down on the neighborhood! There was an ominous glow racing our way. Our neighbor was screaming "GET OUT! GET OUT NOW!!!". We left EVERYTHING. We fled with the
clothes on our backs. We were lucky to make it out alive....... Not everyone did.
When the fire ripped through my Coffey Park neighborhood, it not only took my beloved home of 14 years, it also took the licensed childcare business I created. Early learning and child care have been my passion for many years, with an emphasis on special needs kids and kids at risk. My home was not only a home for my family, it was also a home for my daycare children. A warm, safe, nurturing environment to learn and grow. I loved my life, I loved my home, and I loved the children who filled it each day. I've always been a caregiver, it's who I am. The one providing for others, not wanting to be the one needing help. Losing everything is humbling; it's emotionally overwhelming. Without all the things you take for granted daily, even the most simple tasks become difficult. We are OK, we will be OK, it's just pretty tough right now.
Any an all help would be much appreciated as we move forward in rebuilding our lives, my home and business.
Thank you & God Bless"  Kathie
