Katelyn's jaw surgery & reconstruction

Katelyn is our 18 year old born with a genetic defect called PFE (Primary Failure to Erupt).  This disorder causes a baby tooth, without a permanent replacement, to anchor down one side of the jaw while the rest of the jaw continues to grow.  For Katelyn, the effect is a malformed, crooked and dysfunctional jaw. The gap between the top her mouth and bottom of her jaw is so large on the right side of her mouth that she cannot chew, has speech impediments and intermittent drooling.  The deformity has made Katelyn extremely self-conscious and she has not smiled for a picture in over 8 years. She has been in braces for over 10 years and had Wilckodontics surgery trying to avoid this major reconstructive surgery.
Unfortunately, each year the problem has worsened and all of our attempts of avoiding surgery have failed. The oral maxillofacial surgeon said this is the worst case he has ever seen. To make matters worse we just found out the surgeon has to remove all of Katelyn’s bottom right side molars to successfully align the jaw in addition to breaking her jaw and wiring her mouth. This was devastating news for Katelyn. She will now have to get several implants and a bridge 4-6 months after the surgery to replace all the missing teeth.
This will be a traumatic surgery and difficult recovery for Katelyn but, necessary to have a functional jaw. Unfortunately, our insurance does not cover any of the surgery cost or restorative dental work.  We would greatly appreciate any financial assistance to help our daughter to have a straight, functional jaw and be able to smile again!
