Khayden Johnson

Karter Johnson
Hi, we are Franklyn Johnson & Trenise Kimbrough, the parents of   Khayden & Karter Johnson our awesome 2 month old twin boys.  On September 18, 2017 at 30 weeks gestation I gave birth to  Khayden and Karter Johnson. Both babies had to be placed in NICU due to their early arrival (prematurely). Khayden weighed 3 lbs 9 oz and Karter weighed 4lbs 6oz. Karter had to be placed on a ventilator to help with his breathing amongst a few other things. Khayden eventually came home after being in NICU for one month. Karter is currently still an inpatient in NICU  at Sacred Heart Hospital. After running tests and echocardiograms the doctors discovered a heart murmur as well as narrowing of his heart valves.  They were hoping that the valves would widen over time but after a repeat Echo they saw that the valves were moderate and they  needed to be repaired at the time.  A few weeks later the repeat Echo results showed the narrowing went from moderate to severe and needed immediate attention.  Karter was then transferred  to Shands in Gainesville, Florida to do an Valvoplasty procedure. What that is, is where a catheter with a small ballon tip is guided up his leg through the artery to the heart And then the ballon is inflated to stretch the valve open and boost the blood flow to the heart.

We were transferred to Shands on November 21st and the procedure was done on the 22nd. The doctor was hoping that the angioplasty  would be a success and he would be on his road to recovery. However, a repeat echo on the 23rd showed there was a change. On the 24th I met with the doctors and they informed me of the results. He stated that the valve had wided but recoiled back.  They also stated since the angioplasty was not successful the next step is open heart surgery to repair it that way. These last two months have been really tough on our family with me being out of work.  Karter is still in NICU and me having to travel back and forth to the hospital here in Pensacola and now to Gainesville is a bit much on our finances right now. These funds will help us catch up on our household bills & pay Karter's hospital out of pocket bills. I ask that you please keep our family in your prayers. Blessings be upon each of you and thank you!❤️

Much Love, Franklyn, Trenise, Thaqib, Bryson & Brayden & Family.
