Karmas Emergency Med Vet Stay

On 11/10/18 our dog Karma was taken to Med Vet for emergency service after witnessing her collapsing twice in a row.
She was experiencing ventricular tachycardia, a form of arrhythmia. She has been previously diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and with her condition the abnormal beats put her at high risk for sudden cardiac death if we can't get them under control.
Karma stayed for three days and two nights at Med Vet while they gave her an IV of continuous lidocaine. The cardiology team were finally able to find a combination of medications that allowed her to hold a healthier rhythm without being dependent on the IV.
Her first night home from the vet and she was displaying some concerning signs such as stumbling, near collapse, heavy breathing and weakness. So we had to adjust her meds already and it was recommended to bring her in if the symptoms continued. Luckily changing the meds were enough and she bounced back. Each day Karama has been returning more and more to her joyful self.
We took her back for a re-check on the 20th of November. They did a long ekg, chest xray and monitored blood pressure.
The cardiologist showed us the print out of the results and explained that she was still having the occasional abnormal beat, but it was spread out and that could be managed. However, towards the end of the ekg he showed us that she started having a continuous series of abnormal beats that didn't even finish before the next abnormal beat happened. They did take into account that she was obviously very stressed out at the vet and she has separation anxiety, however they said with that reaction that means if the mailman knocks on the door or something happens to excite her, she goes into an episode of abnormal beats.
With that news the cardiologist said no to the holter monitor because her rhythm isn't where we want it to be yet. Each time she experiences those beats she is at risk of sudden death. So now we are adjusting her medication again and will go back in another 2-3 weeks for a third long ekg, blood pressure with thyroid and liver testing.
Given the type of episode and her history, she will need continued monitoring to watch that her heart is functioning properly. At this point the cardiologist is saying that it is likely Karma will be on these medications for the rest of her life. Once we find the right combination of medications for treatment and she proves to have a continuous healthy rhythm, then we can get the holter monitor and only need to re-check every 3-4 months.
Med Vet has done a lot to help our beloved Karma, but not without high cost for cardiology and emergency services. We don't usually ask for help like this, so it's taken me a minute to decide to put this out there. My mother and a few others have encouraged us to do this go -fund me as we are already up to $3200 in cost and we still have many upcoming re-checks, paying for the holter monitor, and continued medication costs.
Karma is more than just a 'pet'. She is our family. Our world. She is my fur-baby (I know some people don't like when others say that, oh well she IS my baby!) and has been there for both myself and Seth during difficult times. Our little pack is the three of us and we would do anything to support her like she unconditionally has given love to us. Karma has brought so much joy into our life. She's our animal soul mate. I do believe that wholeheartedly.
If you feel led to, we would be so grateful for any assistance we can get to pay off her Med Vet services as soon as possible. All donations will go towards paying off her vet bills and any extra will go to future re-checks, medications and monitoring equipment with Med Vet.
We are determined to figure it out regardless as we love her and want her to have a good quality of life. It would just be so very appreciated if we have some assistance to give her the best care possible because she is worth it.
Karma was born on March 22nd, 2010 and we picked her up when she was just a baby. We got her shortly after moving back to Ohio and she's been with us every since. She's an 8 year old lap dog and both of our shadow. After her first episode back in 2013 I re-arranged my life so that she wouldn't be left alone because of the risk her anxiety poses for her heart. We've been inseparable since.
She is a huge emotional support for myself and has comforted many people and even some children during my Reiki sessions. She is a healer and therapy dog in her own divine right. :) She is one of those dogs that will make you want a boxer after meeting her as she is so sweet. She loves her people and just wants to be a part of everything we do.
We aren't giving up on her and she is proving to be a fighter through out this experience. Clearly she isn't ready to give up either.
Any amount will help and if you can't help with money, sending positive energy or prayers would also be appreciated, if you feel led to. I very much believe in the power of intention and a collective group of directed intention/prayers to help with healing scenarios.
