Karl Taylor - #GetKarlHome

Karl Taylor. A loved son, step-son, brother and an adored friend of many was on holiday in Budapest Hungary. After only a couple of days his health took a turn for the worse and he is currently fighting for his life in the Intensive Unit 1200 miles away from his home and family.
On Monday the 12th February Karl’s Mother and Step Father dropped him off at the airport ready for a week away from teaching and bar work. Although he had a bit of a cold which he didn’t give a second thought to, Karl was looking forward to checking out some of the sights, enjoying the culture and a well-deserved break away.
Up until Tuesday he had kept in touch with friends and family back home to say that he was having a good time but didn’t feel quite right. Deciding to cut his holiday short, and with feeling worse as time went on, he packed up his suitcase and headed for the airport, planning to come home. On arriving he was told he wasn’t able to fly home and rushed to hospital.
As the week went on he was diagnosed with pneumonia and put into an induced coma in the hospital’s intensive care unit, so that his body with the aid of medication and machines could fight the bacterial infection. He was also been placed on kidney dialysis to try and keep him stable.
His mum, step father, family and friends flew straight out to be with him but have only been able to spend small amounts of time at his bedside and have been making the 1200 mile journey back and forth throughout the week.
On Monday 19th February the doctors told the family that he wasn’t responding to treatment and have upped his medication dosage in the hope that it will help. They have now diagnosed him with double pneumonia which has led to septic shock with his organs starting to fail. He is also still on dialysis to save his kidneys from failing too. The doctors were planning to perform a tryacioctomy to see whether he can breathe without the aid of the machine.
He is in the best possible hands with specialists constantly checking him and his family and friends continue to make the journey back and forth to be with him so he is not alone and can be there when he wakes up.
This Go Fund Me page has been set up so that anyone who would like to show support for Karl can. It’s in the hope that it will help cover any associated medical bills whilst Karl is in the Intensive Care Unit in Budapest 1200 miles away from home, for his family so they can be at his bedside when he does wake up and so that once he is back up on feet he doesn’t have to worry about everyday life which we all take for granted. He will be able to take the time to get himself better and back to full health, without worrying about rushing back to work, bills and day to day living expenses. It’s going to be a long journey ahead but Karl’s a fighter.
Thank you all for the kind wishes and support you have shown over this trying time. I’m sure Karl will be very touched as are we all. We are all praying for him and hoping he is soon back home where he belongs surrounded by those that love him #prayforkarl #getkarlhome
I will keep this page updated with Karl’s progress. We are all praying and hoping he wakes up soon x
