As most of you know I have been in a very long and difficult fight with multiple sclerosis. My last exacerbation has left me paraplegic and unable to move waist down. I lost a lot and we are now on the road to trying to find a new normal. This new normal includes a lot of extras to make my life as easy and accesible as possible. The most important being my wheelchairs and lifts for the car so I can maintain the ability to go out and be independent. As you can probably imagine we have more medical debt and monthly expenses just in medications than we can handle. So additional things especially things we need as soon as possible can put quite a strain on us. Thankfully my insurance is covering the cost of my new power chair completely except for the seat lift. The sear lift will help me to transfer to places like my bed and car as well as give me the ability to reach taller things and cook easier. They also will not pay for the ramp and carrier we will need to transport my new chair. These two things will have to be paid completely out of pocket. I am currently using an old and outdated drive medical push chair and it is not only very tiring and difficult to push and control but if I push myself too far in it I am prone to having a flare up. These new tools will change my life. I will be able to go places and do things independently and without worry. I will be able to take our son out independently without fear of tiring out. If anyone has the ability to donate or share my family and I will be forever grateful. Thoughts, prayers, and positive vibes are also especially welcome. Thank you all for you continued support as we continue to fight this disease while we hope and wait for a cure.
