Kari Kewish Final Expenses Cost

Kari Wendy Kewish was 45 years old this year, and a single mother of a beautiful curly haired young girl. For most around her, Kari was the supportive friend, the spunky co-worker, or the fun aunt. She loved her family fiercely and had a soft spot for all types of animals. I have know Kari for ten years and the entire time we were friends, she was always hopefully she would get to have her own children one day.  By her 41st birthday she had all but given up on that hope when she found out the thing she had most been longing for was about to become a reality.  This beautiful little girl that Kari was carrying was to be named Serenity after the serenity prayer. Little did anyone know the prayer she named her daughter after would be needed most in the last two years of her life. The prayer talks about "...living one day at a time;
enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardships as the pathway to peace..." which became how Kari lived shorty after giving birth. First it started as pain, which was later found out to be cancer. Kari fought strong for her new baby girl, using the motto she named her child after as the new way of life.  Unfortunately, the cancer was epithelioid hemangioendothelioma, which is so rare there was not really a prognosis....Kari could of lived two months or ten years. In the case of the our friend, she was given two years. She spent these last two years in severe pain, but lived bravely for Serenity as she went through different surgeries and chemo in hopes for a cure. It is almost poetic that the thing that Kari wanted most in life would bring her the most hope in the end.
In two years Kari went from a health new mom to less than 100 pounds with tremendous pain. Though all of the people who loved Kari have broken hearts, we are all revealed to see her released from her pain.  It was just last month that all of Kari's earthly belongings were put into a storage unit as she still hoped she would get better and get to see Serenity grow up. Though it was a two year journey, we are all taken back by her early passing. Sherry, Kari's sister, is now the legal guardian of the only piece of Kari we have left. Now for the family, there are medical expenses and funeral cost that they were not prepared for. So I ask if you feel lead to help donate to pay off these bills.

Late 2015 Announced pregnancy

 6-19-2016 Serenity was born

August 2016 - She started to have pain, which was thought to be kidney stones or gallbladder problems (gallbladder removed).

Late 2016 to early 2017 - the pain kept getting worse. There were many hospitalizations. She had exploratory surgery on her chest where small nodules in her right lung were found, but she was told it was not cancer. Her right lung collapsed 3 times, many times she had to have liquid drained from lung and each time required more invasive measures. 

April 2017 - lung fluid sent to Mayo Clinic, it was diagnosed as epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (vary rare cancer).

May 2017 - Chemotherapy started

February 2018 - Mayo Clinic removed part of her right lung and half of her diaphragm

August 2018 - Cancer spread to her spine, rapid decline in weight (got to under 100 pounds)

September 2018 - She was surrounded by love as she left this world
