On Monday, September 10th, 2018 our beloved friend, Sister Karen Berry, suffered a massive heart attack. She is currently in a medically-induced coma and under 24- hr hospital care.
Karen very recently returned to work after undergoing an unrelated surgery. As we all know, disability benefits pay only a fraction of missed employment wages, and with Karen already in the process of recovering both medically and financially, this tragic and unexpected hospitalization couldn’t come at a worse time.
Karen doesn’t ask for help, she gives it. She has always been a strong-willed, inspiration for all of us who know her - a close friend to many, a role model to others. When she’s not working at UPS, Karen volunteers her time with United Way and the Patriot Guard and animal rescue advocacy amongst other efforts. She does so much for so many in need that it’s tough to keep track of all the good Karen does for our community, truly.
An Active Teamster, Karen is at the forefront when it comes to showing kindness and support to her coworkers. It’s not unusual to see her end conversations with a hug an an, “ I love ya”! This is the Karen we all know.
It’s our turn to lift up Karen and her family now. They would never ask for the help, but let’s do this for them regardless. These are the times we stand together most for one another in love, strength, and solidarity.
