Karen Trevithick Cancer Comfort Care
Donation protected
About a month ago my friend Karen Trevithick had a kidney stone. During the treatment of the kidney stone it was discovered that she also has Vulva cancer, a very rare cancer, especially in women under 70. Needless to say this is quite a shake up to life. She has a great prognosis but does have to go through chemotherapy. While health insurance is helpful for the strictly medical expenses, it does not cover many of the items that are critical to her comfort and recovery, such as a new blender to make healthy green shakes (that she desperately wants to add bacon to), caps for under her wig (she will lose her lovely locks), medical bills for her service dog Snowball, silk pillow cases for her soon to be sensitive bald scalp, rent (she needs to keep the roof over her head) and these are just the items that have come up in the past week. It is expected that there will be more needs to keep her comfortable so she can focus on recovery. Karen mostly works for herself so this shake up to life will be a disruption on her ability to work on a daily basis. These unexpected expenses combined with being self-employed cause a bit of a financial challenge and adds unneeded stress. While Karen is exploring other financial assistance options, any help to make sure she is comfortable and focused on recovery is very appreciated.
