Karen Ruiz - Mogo Orchid and Fern Nursery

Many past Ingram Micro and Tech Pacific people will remember the lovely Karen Ruiz from our Canberra office. When Karen left Ingram Micro she and her husband, Eddie always had a dream of setting up an orchid nursery on the South Coast of NSW. They put years of hard work into this and it became thriving business and Karen’s love. Unfortunately 2 years ago, Karen and her daughters lost their beloved husband and Dad to sudden illness. Karen however, decided to keep on with the business to keep alive the dream that she and Eddie had started, as well as making the nursery Eddie’s legacy. Last week the fire that tore through Mogo changed all that. Her house above her shop has some damage but her nursery has been quite scorched and all her lovely orchids badly damaged or destroyed from the heat and flames. The business is Karen’s only income source, so I’m asking all of those that knew Karen to help get her back on her feet, purchase some new stock and get her livelihood and Eddie’s legacy kick started again. For those of you who don't know me I worked with Karen for nearly 20 years and was her Manager for approximately 6 of these years.  I am managing and will forward these funds to Karen at the end of every week, as due to the circumstances of the fire, Karen has no access to power or the internet at this stage.  Karen will use these funds to sustain her during this  period  with no income as well as purchase new orchid stock and conduct repairs to her nursery.  Karen has managed to return to Mogo today (8/1/2020) and will send photos through as soon as possible to show you all the damage sustained.
