Kaitlyn's Brain Surgery & Radiation

In the spring of 2015, at the age of 24, Kaitlyn Hanna was diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer. Despite her diagnosis, and after many months of grueling chemotherapy, she received the good news that she was NED (No Evidence of Disease). For the past two years, Kaitlyn has been thriving, thankful for each day she remained NED. She traveled the world, fundraised thousands of dollars for breast cancer research (including her participation in a 200+ mile bike ride), began esthetician school, played with her beloved pup Charlie, and has shown us all how to live and love more fiercely.
But as with all journeys, this one has taken a turn that no one could have planned. Last week an MRI of Kaitlyn’s brain showed a reoccurrence in the form of a 3cm lesion on her cerebellum. The good news: the lesion is operable; Kaitlyn will undergo surgery Friday, January 12. Her doctors are optimistic that it can be removed successfully. To ensure this, following surgery, she will also have to receive targeted radiation.
No matter the sight on success, this is going to be a hard road. One that —even as I write this— I can’t fully imagine. That’s where we come in. Kaitlyn has a lot of work ahead of her. To help her on this journey we’re asking for support to ensure that the most practical challenges can be aided by her own community and the extended community of her loved ones.
Your generous donation will go directly towards covering the high medical costs associated with surgery and radiation not covered by insurance.
