Kaiser's Fight

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us" - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Kaiser Wyatt was in a motorcycle accident August 2, 2017 on Rain Road north of Chapman, Kansas.
First responders found him unconcsious in the grassy area to the side of the road. From there he was transported to Geary County Hospital in Junction City, Kansas. It was only a short time before Kaiser was life watched to Stormont Vail in Topeka, Kansas because they realized the severity of his injuries.

Once at Stormont Vail, surgeons announced that Kaiser did not show positive signs. However, in the trauma center, Kaiser heard his mother's voice and reached his arm up to her. They then decided he would be life watched to University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas for further treatment.  Kaiser has been in the Surgecial Intensive Care Unit at KU Med since the night of August 2 where he is being treated.

Kaiser is suffering from mutliple injuries including a broken femur, a serious pelvis injury, a broken tailbone, a punctured lung, a broken jaw, fractured face bones including a severe rigth eye injury, he has help breathing, and extreme brain trauma. There are still injuries that may be possible but are unseen because of the swelling. There are also unanswered questions because he is still unable to respond.

The first 48-72 hours are the most critcal in beginning his treatment process. The surgeons started a step-by-step process in how the treatments will be handled. He will need many small tests, surgeries, reconstructions, and a long road of rehabilitation. Due to the trauma of his brain from intense swelling, the nurses treat Kaiser with several tests to check his brain activity. They are currently monitoring his vitals, his respitory regulation, pain response, eye dialation, brain pressure/activity, blood pressure, listening skills and his motor skills. The team of doctors and surgeons that are treating Kaiser have created an organized list of how the procedures will happen once he has become stable. There are still a lot unanswered questions to what procedures he will need because of the amount of swelling throughout his body. The idea thus far include facial reconstruction, pelvis and hip reconstruction, pinning his femur for proper healing, and eye repair.
Kaiser has a long road to recovery ahead of him, including rehabilitation. Once his procedures are completed he will need healing and massive amounts of rehabilitation for Kaiser to be released. Surgeons are assuming he will need phsyical and mental rehabilitation to compete his recovery.

With Kaiser's medical treatment being held at KU Med in Kansas City, the family is having to travel from different areas, take off work, eat at the hospital, and stay at the hospital. They are spending all of their time supporting Kaiser, visiting him when they can, and thinking all the positive thoughts they are able too. Kaiser also has a tremendous amount of support during this difficult time. He has friends traveling from home, family and other friends traveling from different states, and support that comes to check on him every day. The urgency of Kaiser's condition is someting that can go unsaid. The beginning of his journey is the most crucial to his recovery because we want him to make it to the next part of his journey and even further than that.

However, the obstacles we become faced with our in lives are of a matter that sometimes we feel are not conquerable. Matters that have become so large that they not only impact our own personal life, but the lives of all the people we are connected too. At times a person must reach a point where having ourself is simply not enough. The support gained from those around us can change our reasonability, our mental state, and even the fight we hold within our hearts. Kaiser is fighting a battle that impats him in every aspect of his life and future. The family is fighting a battle to be supportive of his battle, his fight and his recovery. With this GoFundMe page, we ask for people to help Kaiser achieve recovery and help his family and close friends be there to support him during his journey of recovery. The family also askes for help in donations for traveling expenses, lodging, and possible medical bills. The stays in the hospital may grow expensive and trying for the family. Any type of support will be be helpful and the family will be incredibly thankful.

"World,
you have tried to beat me down.
But my heart is a drum, and everytime you pound
it reverberates outside me with a music that resounds.
Every hit becomes a rhythm,
Every impact is a gong,
and this rhythm-rhyming chiming
is my wild-hearted song."
Teryn O'Brien

Kaiser's family and friends ask for donations, help, support, or prayers on his journey to recovery. Any form of support is encouraged from anyone close or far from Kaiser. The power of positivity and love can carry beyond what we could even imagine.
Thank you to everyone who has already shown support and to those who are/will support the Kaiser and family. The family is so grateful for all the support!
