Kaela’s Christmas Blessing

This time last year Kaela was a happy, carefree, kind-hearted 15-year-old.
In late fall 2017, we began to notice symptoms that appeared unconnected. Minor slurred speech, trouble swallowing, double vision and difficulty with balance, etc....
By Christmas break, these symptoms were quickly getting worse.
In January 2018 Kaela had an MRI. Within a few hours of the MRI Kaela was hospitalized and diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), an aggressive form of brain cancer.
A cancerous brain tumor had developed in an area of her brainstem called the Pons. DIPG is rare (only 300 US cases per year) and has no known cure. The tumor is inoperable due to the placement of the tumor in the brain stem. Since her diagnosis, Kaela has been through 30 radiation treatments, chemotherapy and a clinical trial medication hoping to shrink and slow the rapid growth of the tumor. Kaela is a fighter and is determined to beat cancer!
Kaela’s doctors have told us that every day a child with DIPG is alive is a blessing and to cherish every minute we have with her.
Friends and family have asked how they can help, so we decided to set up this fund for Kaela.
We would like to make this holiday season one Kaela, and those who love her won’t forget. Christmas has always been Kaela’s favorite time of year. She loves the celebration of the birth of Jesus, family gatherings, Christmas trees, houses covered in lights and the music.....
Kaela is one of a few teenagers that would rather see her family than receive material things.
We are blessed to have so many people across the globe who love Kaela. But the cost of travel can be a strain.
We would like to bring together as many people who love Kaela as possible for a Christmas visit and fulfill one of Kaela’s dreams to see the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
If you can do ANY of the following things, it will make a huge difference during this difficult time:
1. Pray for Kaela’s total and complete healing.
2. Make a monetary donation. Share this campaign with anyone you know who may be able to help.
3. Kaela loves to get a letters, cards and/or video message from time to time. Anything to remind her she has lots of people who love her.
All donations will be used to help with travel costs associated with monthly clinical trial appointments, travel expenses to allow Kaela’s loved ones to visit her over the holidays, as well as, other activities to help Kaela look to the future with hope. Thank You & God Bless
