To Maricela’s family and friends, we are here to support Mari, as she faces a difficult journey. Our friend Mari was diagnosed with Breast Cancer on November 03, 2014. We created this page to help raise awareness and to bless her financially as she begins chemotherapy. The money will help her on medical bills and other bills as she will take time off from work.
Her Journey began on October 31, 2014; on what was suppose to be a routine OB/GYN check-up. Her doctor discovered a lump on her left breast and Mari was scheduled for a future appointment. On November 3, 2014 she had a mammogram and ultra sound. The results from the biopsy came out positive and she was diagnosed with Non-invasive Ductal Carcinoma in situ Breast Cancer. She was in disbelief. As we all know, Mari works out 4-6 times a week doing 2-3 days of CrossFit, 2 days of Body Pump, one day of intense cardio, while maintaining a healthy diet.
On December 18, 2014, Mari had her first surgery. She had a mastectomy on her left breast and 1 lymph node removed. After doing further test, the lymph node came back positive for invasive which meant that she had to have another surgery on December 29, 2014 to remove her auxiliary lymph nodes. We give Thanks to God that she is almost fully recovered.
On January 12, 2015, Mari met with her oncologist to discuss her chemotherapy treatment. Her cancer had initially been diagnosed as Ductal Carcinoma in situ which is considered to be a beginning stage of cancer. After her second surgery the diagnosis changed to Stage 2A.
On February 2, 2015, Mari will begin her chemotherapy treatment. This treatment will last 5.5 months. Mari’s cancer will be treated very aggressively. There will be many side effects: her immune system will be low, nausea/vomiting, loss of hair, and the list goes on. Once she bravely finishes her chemotherapy treatment, Mari will still have to take medication for up to 10 years.
Mari is blessed to have such an amazing cast of support. Mari believes, “Through my pain and suffering God Will touch and change many peoples lives and that he will be by my side every step of the way. I know that this will not be an easy nor short journey. My mother, sisters, friends and family will also be there to support me as well. God has chosen me for a reason and I’ve never felt this blessed in my life before. I’ve shed many tears this week which only tells me that God is working in healing me”. Philippians 4:13- I can do all things through God who gives me strength.
