HELP ME FIGTH PANCREATIC CANCER
My name is Enrique Figueroa. I’ve been happily married for 24 years and am the father of a young man and a beautiful teenage daughter.
I had a “normal life,” working hard every day, and for many years with my wife and church, leading couples’ engagement counseling projects throughout Mexico and Central America. I created and am continually improving a unique computer program that has enabled charitable healthcare services, hospitals and organizations like Rotary and Lions Clubs to provide vision screening and free eyeglasses to several hundred thousand impoverished people in clinics in the U.S., Mexico and Haiti. My unique technology enables those organizations to determine eyesight prescriptions and very accurately fill them using recycled eyeglasses in just 5 to 10 minutes per patient.
8 years ago, I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer when doctors found a tumor at the head of the my pancreas. The tumor was inoperable, and for all this time, together with my family and doctors, I have struggled to get ahead with all my effort tokeep the tumor and the cancer from growing and spreading to other organs. It has been a struggle to do my work while trying to enjoy my family knowing that the day may come when we have to separate permanently.
Now, I cannot work anymore. My healthcare allowance/pension is only enough to contribute to the needs at home, and this fight is not easy. The injected and oral chemotherapies are wreaking havoc on my body. Recently they discovered a thrombus in the liver, and in the latest x-rays, new nodes appeared in that area. I repeatedly have been entering and leaving the hospital during the past 3 months trying to get everything back under control, struggling with chemo's secondary effects and fighting weight loss.
This new challenge means that I have to fight harder to beat the cancer. I have the support of my wife and my children who are fighting by my side and that of God who has taken care of me during all this time, but the new chemotherapy options are very expensive, and we need help to pay for it.
I am asking for your help so I can fight and beat cancer and return to MY work helping others.
