This is Marisol! She is a young woman who lives in a village of 500 people, called Zapote de Picachos. Residents of this village are part of an indigenous tribe, the Huichol.
On our first trip to Zapote in 2016, we met Marisol. A warm heart, and a smile so genuine. She kindly prepared our meals for us each day, and spent time with us. Returning to the village a few weeks ago, we were reunited!
Over the course of a few years, our friend Dale Bourne has been forming a relationship with the Huichol. He has been spending time mentoring Marisol and her older sister and sharing who Jesus is. In the days we spent there, we were made aware of her heart, full of desire to know God.
Dale, when we returned, was telling her of the school we run in YWAM Mazatlan, and she was overcome with joy, because that was her desire; To come and learn, to be in communion with the body of Christ. As we sat under a thatched roof talking about this desire, we decided to take on anything that would help her to participate in DTS and as soon as possible!
She has very little finances to complete this school. But her heart desires a fresh perspective, to see the world, to see who God really is. But God calls us to love, to help, to overcome the challenges of this world, together. We, Josh and Geertje, are calling for your help. The entire school, lecture and outreach, will cost about $5,400 USD. Your donation, however big or small, will go towards the furtherance of the Kingdom, in a way we’ve never seen before, but know is so integrated in the will of God..
Marisol will most likely be the first member of her Huichol people to ever do a DTS. While in conversation with her, we were reminded of Revelation's "Every tribe, every tongue, every nation".
The school begins the 27th of September. Join us. Let's bring Marisol to the Nations!
