Lori's Medical Fund

Lori Yonts is the founder and manager of the horse rescue and retirement organization, Sunkissed Acres Rescue and Retirement, Inc. She has helped hundreds through the years: both two-legged (including several foster children) and four-legged. Now it is time for us to help someone who has given so much of herself to helping others. 

In 2014, Lori suffered major heart failure, and there was a point at the hospital in which her doctors informed her to gather her family as her prognosis was not good. Little did they know, Lori is a fighter. Since that time, Lori has worn a Zoll lifevest, that is an external defibrillator. It is a loaner from her doctors and must be returned, at which time she will undergo additional surgeries and medical procedures. 

Besides Lori's existing medical bills, she has surgery scheduled for January 20th. The hospital HAS agreed to perform the procedure; however, Lori does not have any medical coverage, and she doesn't qualify for any. She falls in the margin of people who don't qualify for Medicare nor a medical plan unless she can pay $1400 per month and an additional $350 per month for her prescription medication which is more than what she makes in a month. Lori has worked out a plan with the hospital for some of her medical bills, but she still needs help paying for them. 

Anyone who knows Lori knows how much of a giving person she is. She gives her all, 100%, her heart, and now her heart is failing her. But that doesn't mean we have to fail her. Lori didn't know, at first, if a GoFundMe was "for her." She didn't want to be a charity case. But I told her that she isn't a charity case, and we all love her and want to help her. 

It should be noted, that NONE of the funds received from this GoFundMe will go to the rescue. The rescue has its own fundraising and Paypal address for donations. 100% of the funds received from this GoFundMe (minus the fees from GoFundMe) will go directly to Lori Yonts to pay her medical bill. Although you may think $100,000 is a lot, that is only her current medical bills plus a meager $35,000 for her upcoming medical bills. I foresee her total being exponentially more than $100,000. Every little bit helps!
