*** Update - we are excited to be building so much momentum toward our goal in such a short period of time.  Please know that we will donate 100% of all monies received and we look forward to blowing away our goal for Tyler!

Tyler Bryce Parsons was born February 26, 1996 in Phoenix, AZ to his proud, wonderful, loving, parents, Dee and Linda Parsons. Their family was complete when Tyler’s sister Hannah Parsons was born in 1998. Tyler died January 12, 2015 as a result of complications arising from cancer surgery.

Tyler was funny, caring, smart, genuine, loving, and wise beyond his 18 years.

Watching Tyler care for Hannah was astonishing. The care and compassion Tyler showed his family, friends, and classmates was evident in how he cared for Hannah during her open heart surgery and in the years since.

Tyler spent 2 weeks working in Thailand establishing clean water systems for children living in poverty in Chiang Mai Thailand while his family resided in Tokyo. Most importantly, he built relationships with the local residents there, spreading his love and his gift of making a connection to those around him, regardless of nationality.

He enjoyed his years, and friends, in Holland and, after a junior year at West Ottawa High School, he moved with his family to Tokyo where he graduated from The American School in Japan in June 2014. He was a freshman at Michigan State University this fall.

Tyler is survived by his parents, Dee and Linda Parsons of Holland Michigan; his sister Hannah Parsons also of Holland MI; and his beloved Saya Helton who resides in Vancouver, BC. He also is remembered by his grandparents; Maria Bishop, Hudsonville, MI; Bill Haworth, Seattle WA; David and Jeanette Parsons of Grapevine, TX; Judy and Dave Nielsen of Moraga, CA; and Molly and Ken Pfalzgraf of Phoenix, AZ. His aunts, uncles, cousins, classmates, and friends around the world will also carry Tyler’s legacy of friendship forward.

Sometime soon Dee, Linda, Hannah, and Saya would like to make a donation in Tyler’s name to a charitable fund, such as the American School in Japan, an animal welfare fund, or something else that will preserve Tyler’s legacy of caring and love.
