Makena's Cause

There are no words to discribe how it feels to tell you all that Makena has relapsed. Without any physical signs of illness her routine check up thursday showed that her leukemia is back in full force. We were able to go home thursday night so the kids could preform in their xmas concert and we could prepare to move into the hospital. For this weekend she just need iv fluids and medication to flush her kidneys. Come monday we will start the 28 day treatment to put here back into remission. Her bone marrow will be taken on tuesday to tell us what changes there are in the cancer cells and they will check her spinal fluid for any sign of disease. A 2 year plan is certain but which plan is not clear yet. Makena will likely fall into a high risk group therapy which will include a more intense chemo schedule. After all the support and love u have all shown us i feel as though i should be telling u each this news personally. But we are so fortunate to have such a large group of amazing people behind us that this would be impossible. I will post information as we get it. For this weekend we are settled into our room . caiden and chris have a room at the ronald mcdonald house. We will have xrays done and iv fluids in preparation for monday.
