Bring Ethan Home

Donation protected
On March 28, 2018, we received the worst news that any parent could hear - that Ethan had died. He was only 18 years old, and was in the midst of his second semester at Champlain College.

The story is difficult to tell, because how can you summarize Ethan's story? He came into the world on his own terms, three weeks early and not bothering to wait for the doctor. He was an adventurous boy, and unafraid of the unknown. He was also caring and empathetic, and always knew whether a hug or a word or even a joke would be just the right balm to soothe any hurts. He was such a smart man, and we used to joke that he would end up ruling the world one day.

His sense of humor was wry and sometimes misunderstood. His laugh was deep and rumbled from his chest like thunder in the spring.

Ethan loved deeply, and he touched the lives of so many people. Our lives will always be darker now, without his light in our lives.

We know how he died, but we don't know why. I don't think we'll ever know why, or understand.

The purpose of this gofundme is to raise money to help defray the costs of traveling to Vermont to bring Ethan home, including the costs of the cremation, urns, and the memorial services to be held once we bring him home.

Any funds beyond the goal will be donated to Project Semicolon in his name. Even though Ethan is gone, his story is not finished, and we hope that sharing his story and raising awareness will help others.

Depression lies, and it lies so well that it feels like truth, and it killed our son.

Ethan leaves behind his parents, step-parents, two brothers, two sisters, grandparents, aunts, cousins, more friends than he knew, one plotting black cat, and one big fat cow cat.
