My intention for 2015 is to be more open, receptive, and loving. I will myself to embody and articulate peace, light, and spiritual evolution. I am so grateful to the universe for listening and gifting me the opportunity to delve deeply into the study and practice of yoga with Dharma Mittra.

Yoga has massively shifted my experience of the world around me. Before I began practicing, I was more insecure, anxious, less grounded, and overall less conscious of how my choices make a difference. I am learning how to be an active participant in writing the story of my life. Through the practice of yoga, I have become more comfortable with silence, which results in more calmness, balance, and patience towards others and myself.

I have a very diverse tribe of inspirational yogis from Ashtanga yoga (Tim Feldmann, Matthew Sweeney, Faith Scimecca, Prem Carlisi, Radha), Rocket Yoga (David C. Kyle), Anusara (Lila Rasa, Desiree Rumbaugh, Elena Brower), and Dharma (Aqueel Om, Hannah Allerdice). I am choosing this training because I am at a point in my life where I am consciously looking for a spiritual teacher, someone who can empower me in higher dimensions. I have always been drawn to Dharma from afar but wasn’t yet ready to confront my life story in the way I know Dharma will guide me. I am more aware and open to developing my intuitive abilities through ahimsa (non-violence), psychic development, and asana (yoga postures).

My first yoga class was in 2002 at NCSU after a long run. I absolutely loved it and noticed after class, I was walking taller. I knew I would return. It wasn’t until 2007 that I attended my second yoga class. I was attending and working at Virginia Tech University when the shootings occurred and 33 students were murdered. This was one of the few incidents in a series of traumatic events that were rerouting me; at the time, I was unable to view them as divine intervention, and instead developed Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and had consistent anxiety, fear, and resentment. Due to the shootings, Virginia Tech began to offer alternative healing for all willing to participate in a 6-week mindfulness meditation training. There were few words and a lot of processing; exactly what I wanted. Through this program, I resonated most with mindful movement and was guided towards yoga classes. When I returned to the yoga mat in 2008, I was completely mesmerized by the elegance and depth of the practice. How much healing and release could occur in 75 minutes of silence, movement, and breathing! I have been practicing everyday since 2009.

I am at a point in my life, where I am consciously willing and able to evolve in the spiritual dimension and will benefit from having a teacher who very much embodies that which I would like to become: peaceful, grounded, open, realized.

Full tuition for the 500 Hour Life of a Yogi Teacher Training is $4,995 and a $2,000 deposit is now due to reserve my space as a student.  Lodging, books, and travel expenses are an additional cost. http://www.dharmayogacenter.com/yoga-teacher-training/500-hour-life-of-a-yogi-teacher-training/
