Chris McJunkin's Medical Expenses

Unfortunately Chris was in a bad car accident on New Year's morning 2015. He suffered from 2 temporal brain bleeds and later found out that he had hundreds of small bleeds throughout his entire brain and was labeled as a very severe traumatic brain injury patient. He spent several days in ICU and had a really hard time waking up due to his brain injury. When he finally woke up, they were able to remove the ventilator and move him to a regular room. Now, 9 days later, he is in a rehabilitation, program at Roger C. Peace for young men who suffer from traumatic brain injuries. This is the best place he can be because he receives therapy weekdays from 8:30-3:30. Considering it's only been 9 days and Chris has already shown so much progress, he certainly has an advantage in this program. Physically he's doing incredibly! Not ready to stand and walk alone by any means, but his balance has greatly improved. Mentally is where his biggest deficit is. His short term memory is not working, and he is having great difficulty with remembering things that were once second nature to him (simple math facts, problem solving skills, identifying objects, colors, shapes, etc.). Chris was an incredibly smart man before the accident and very independent and it's heartbreaking to see him struggle with these things, but that's why he is in therapy, to hopefully regain these skills in time. His expected recovery time is 6 months to a year. The doctors say that whatever skill level he is at on that year mark will be his full recovery.

Before the accident Chris ran his own flooring sales and installation business Custom Touch Flooring out of Pelzer, SC. He and his wife April worked together each day, and his customers absolutely love him and his quality work. Since this is their livelihood and Chris' love, our hope is that he can regain the skills he needs to continue on with what he has built from the ground up.

As you can expect, there are a ton of medical bills already piled up.  The people at Roger C. Peace informed his wife today that they would be releasing him next week due to a lack of insurance coverage.  They also told her that outpatient therapy will have to be paid out of pocket.  A doctor said today that he doesn't believe that Chris will ever be able to work again due to his lagging cognitive abilities.  Chris' income from his business was the only income for the household and now that he is not able to work, there will be no income.  The family could certainly use any donation that you can spare to cover his medical expenses. No amount is too small.  Remember what Jesus did with the loaves of bread and two small fish?  We are confident that He will provide for Chris' every need.
