Becky (mom) is a 51-year old fun-loving, giving, and compassionate mother of four, wife and grandma of two. As Becky has been battling metastatic high-grade “serous primary peritoneal carcinoma” a very serious cancer, well before being officially diagnosed in October of 2020. Surgery was never an option because doctors were never able to find a treatment the cancer would respond to. We were told that without a proven therapy, the cancer would just be back within a couple months.
Her care team has tried all chemo options and all have failed with the last causing a severe bowel obstruction. She spent March 22nd to April 9th at Community North. While there, the doctors decided a decompression tube in her stomach would alleviate the nausea and severe pain she was experiencing. Unfortunately the venting tube did not just go through her stomach, it perforated her small intestines as well. And no, the surgeon cannot go in and "fix" it. It's too "risky". So, at this point, the doctors are stepping back. They said there's nothing more they can do with traditional medicine to fight the cancer or remove the blockage. The only option left was to send her home with the care of Hospice. They said the blockage was from the cancer and that would be what ultimately ends it. We all know Becky is a fighter and has defied all the odds up to now. Her cancer was dormant once, it can be again. Unfortunately these alternative treatments are not covered by insurance and are quite costly. Becky and her family are unable to cover the cost of the alternative treatments which can be quite costly without insurance and would truly appreciate all donations, large or small, to help her to continue to fight. Giving up is just not an option.
My mom is a fighter and even if you cannot donate please share.
