Send JWU Students to Berlin

It all started with Javon’s hat: he sat down to a discussion in our Women’s Leadership class while wearing a cap with the word “OBEY” emblazoned across it. Professor Kendall queried him about the appropriateness of wearing such apparel – ironically or otherwise – in view of the context of the class. His hat, this image, sparked a conversation that resulted in a research project unified under the theme Obey/Disobey. At the same time, we became aware of a conference being offered in Berlin, Germany – The Conference on the Image – which encouraged proposals from faculty in collaboration with their students. The class sent in a proposal which was accepted for presentation at the conference. Now, our mission is to get there and deliver our presentation, and we need your support!
         The cost for us to go to Berlin is approximately $8,400 total ($2,100 per person, as there are four of us going). Your contribution to this Go-Fund-Me site will enable us to experience this amazing out-of-the-classroom opportunity in Germany this fall. We’re on a tight deadline because of airfare and conference fees, so we need to raise $6,000 by SEPTEMBER 15th – just less than three weeks away.
