Show trans baby film in Midlands!

Donation protected
This is an ground-breaking trans film, about an aspect of trans experience that gets little to no positive coverage...having babies!! It isn't coming to the Midlands unless we make it happen, so Beck, QT Leics and a new friend are working towards it! Donate here to help us raise the $349 we need to buy the licenced DVD. Then we will show it in Leicester city centre at the end of November and maybe even make an event out of it!

More details;
A Womb of their Own is about trans parenting and the trans men and trans masculine people who carry and feed their babies. This subject matter is contraversial and the mainstream media has a field day of negativity and sensationalism whenever they cover it. This film is created by trans people and lets the parents themselves tell their stories. Its an important film that we believe all people in our community should have access to. It doesnt look likely to just arrive on a screen in Leicester without some effort from our community so I, QT Leics and some new friends are keen to make it happen.

We believe (one of us speaking as a trans man expecting a baby) that this is an important film for our young and older trans community to see, to help to inform their decision-making about fertility options, that it is a film that cis folk, both LGBT and heterosexual, should see as it shines a light on a subject that many people are ignorant about. And finally professionals (midwives/doulas/health professionals, counsellors) who work with birthing fathers and all pregnant people, to help them to understand the diversity of those they care for, and improve practice.

We are proposing at least one showing in Leicester if we can purchase the film rights, which is $249 minimum. The date we have in mind is a weekend afternoon in late November 2017. We need to raise the money by then. The funds will be used to buy the film rights (260 pounds), and to provide snacks and drinks for the evening (if we raise 300 pounds). If we raise 300 pounds this will also enable us to pay the expenses of volunteer speakers for a panel for an after film Q&A. This will include people with lived experience of parenting as trans people and trans competent professionals involved in their care.

We need to raise the funds before the end of October to ensure we can purchase the film rights and organise the event.

We know that many people from around the Midlands would appreciate being able to see an important film like this here in Leicester and would enjoy the chance to watch it with a group of people from the local LGBT/queer/trans community and be part of a Q&A which will be rich in learning and awareness raising for all of us.

We would be very grateful to anyone who can donate even just a little to get us to our target, whether you are planning to come and see the film or not.

Those who donate are invited to email us and claim a free ticket to the showing! Either for you, or you can allocate your ticket to someone else.

Thanks so much for considering helping us get to our target and hope to see you at our showing and event!
