Malcolm X. Scott was a son, a brother, and a true friend. He passed away on April 14, 2014 in Atlanta, Ga. He leaves behind a mother, father, two brothers, a nephew and a host of friends.
24-year-old, Malcolm X. Scott was shot and killed on the 2700 block of Godby Road in unincorporated College Park on Sunday evening.
The shooting happened just before 10 p.m. when Scott was robbed. Friends of the victim say he had just gotten back from the Dogwood Festival when he was shot.
An autopsy was performed, and it revealed that Scott sustained a single gunshot wound to the torso. Malcolm was an active member in the Metro Atlanta community.
He served as a volunteer for Someone Cares Atlanta and an active Alumni member from Year Up Atlanta. While attending Year Up, he received several awards for attendance, academic excellence, and leadership.
Malcolm also was the first Year Up intern at AT&T Mobility, which created more opportunities for other students in the program. Malcolm was that shoulder to cry on, that ear to listen and that harsh dose of reality when you needed it.
He was always smiling and willing to help anyone who asked. His closest friends have created this GoFundMe account to assist his family with funeral arrangements and any other financial needs they may have.
