Justice for Jovani Memorial

Hi everyone. The Justice for Jovani group is working together to raise funds to build a beautiful memorial at Sunshine Acres Park in Commack, NY in memory of Jovani Ligurgo.
Jovani was a beautiful smiley 2 year old little boy who lost his life on June 6, 2018 when his father abducted and murdered him before committing suicide. The NY state police did not issue an amber alert because they felt his life was not in danger. However, so many signs were pointing to the fact that John Ligurgo was intending to harm Jovani. He was in possession of a gun and had lit his condo on fire.
Unfortunately, the failure to issue the amber alert allowed his father to get several states away from Long Island and commit the unthinkable by murdering his own son before turning the gun on himself ending both of their lives.
The family is left to mourn the loss of this beautiful child who’s loving light was extinguished far before his time. No mother should ever have to endure this pain.
We would like to build a memorial in the last park Jovani played. The yellow slide and swings were in some of the last beautiful pictures his mother has of him. We would like to provide her a beautiful space to watch the orange sunsets and visit the park to remember her lost son.
His favorite color was orange and the location of the memorial faces the sunset.
This event has shaken the community and many parts of the world as his story has reached many countries and states. Any parent can one day be faced with this... but they never should have to.
Details of the memorial are being kept a secret, as we would like to do a unveiling on what would have been his 3rd birthday. We would like to do the dedication of the memorial and a lantern release on October 9. Everyone is welcome to attend. We have been able to procure some donations, but it is not enough to cover the memorial costs. So we are asking for the communities assistance.
Additionally, we are working to make changes to the amber alert criteria. A petition is posted on the Facebook group Justice for Jovani and the group is open to the public. We are working to assist Senator Phil Boyle in implementing changes to protect other children so no parent has to endure a situation like this again.
No donation is too small. Receipted costs will be posted on the Facebook Justice for Jovani group.
