What would you do if you drove 300 miles to visit a good friend and you brought your family dog along for the trip, and less than 24 hours later, the dog gets out of your friend’s house and is savagely murdered and dragged across a railroad track and left there for people to find or a train to run over?
No, of course you can’t even imagine this horror. BUT this DID just happen in Wellington, CO. Eros human Dad drove from Wyoming to Wellington to visit a good friend. They left the house on July 30th for ONE hour. Eros was clever and he was able to push open the front door with its door lever and got out. In a panic, Eros human Dad and friend started looking everywhere for him. Meanwhile, Eros human Mom was still at home in Wyoming and in a panic calling agencies at 3am and posting all over social media trying to help locate their pet. Finally, the next day – 24 hours later after Eros went missing, Eros was found savagely murdered and he had been dragged to the railroad tracks and left there. His murder was brutal and the whole scene was evil and heartless. Not even sure if the railroad tracks was meant to cover up the crime or to hurt more people via the train. EVIL!We are raising $2000 for “Justice For Eros”. This money will be used to give a reward to the person that calls in with a tip or information about who did this heinous murderous act to a loved gentle family pet.
The dog was not chasing livestock or causing any harm. He escaped out of a family subdivision home in Wellington at the block of 7000 Mount Nimbus. The money we raise will be given 100% to the person that provides a helpful tip that leads to an arrest and conviction of a person for this awful crime.
If substantial time goes by and we get into 2020 with no leads, then we plan on donating 100% of these funds to 2 reputable no-kill animal shelters in our local area to help benefit other family pets or abandoned animals.
No one will gain from these funds other than the person that comes forward with knowledge about the crime or 2 worthy animal shelters in Fort Collins, CO. We will keep everyone updated through the process and be fully transparent with all.
This case is being actively investigated by the Larimer County Sheriff’s department. I spoke with them the other day and they agreed with me that SOMEONE (not just the killer) knows something about what happened. We need this person to come forward NOW.Tips can be reported to Larimer County Sheriff, Deputy Brandon Ritchie #17044 at 970-498-5569 or email@example.com
Tips can also be reported to Northern Colorado Crimestoppers. This group works to assist local law enforcement agencies in solving crimes. This is accomplished by receiving anonymous tips and paying rewards for that information that lead to an arrest and filing of criminal charges. Submit your tips to 800-222-TIPS (8477).
If no success is found locating the killer of Eros after an extended period of time we will donate 100% of the collected funds split equally with half going to the Animal House
that just merged with the Ft. Collins Cat Rescue in Ft. Collins. They specialize in giving 2nd chances to pets. The other half will be donated to the All Aboard Animal Rescue
in Ft. Collins. All Aboard will not reject an animal for any reason due to high medical expenses. Age, size, breed, lack of space or too much time spent in a shelter. They will help these animals find their forever homes.
I am hopeful that the majority of the people of Wellington and others will reach out to give help. Wellington has many caring people and lots of avid dog lovers! But if you don’t live in Wellington, please give too because every bit helps and if you love dogs and if you love animals, you could make a difference. Even a small amount like $5.00 or $10.00 could make a difference with enough people contributing.
Wellington is a beautiful community and this is a stain on our community. Let’s fix it. Research shows that when serial killers backgrounds have been profiled, 98% of them have hurt animals first before people. Think about that for a moment and this murder happened to a gentle family pet in our community where I live and I am proud to live. Let’s step up and bring justice for Eros and his devastated family.
We have set up a GoFundMe account to collect contributions to this cause. GoFundMe does not have any fees – they work off of donations but there is a small processing cost affiliated with credit card payments. For example, if you donate $100, then approximately $3.20 of that amount goes to the party handling the card transaction. If you would prefer to send cash or write a check, please send me a message for more information.
