On Thursday, July 11, 2013, at the age of 23, Jessie was diagnosed with a malignant tumor known as epithelioid hemangioendothelioma, also referred to as EHE. It is a vascular tumor so rare that only one in a million people are diagnosed with this type of tumor.

With a positive attitude and determined heart, Jessie has bravely been battling her cancer for the past 2 1/2 years. She has undergone numerous rounds of chemotherapy, radiation treatments, and participated in a clinical drug trial in Santa Monica. She traveled to MD Anderson in Houston, TX to meet with an EHE doctor and gain more information about her rare disease.  Throughout her diagnosis and treatments, Jess has displayed nothing but acceptance, faith, and courage.  She faced each treatment head-on, with a willingness to beat the odds.  

In November 2014, Jessie's boyfriend of 5 years, proposed to her, and on September 25, 2015, her dream came true when she married the love of her life, Tom, and through their marriage, Jess became a step-mom to 8 year old Connor.  Even though she had been hospitalized for pneumonia the week before her wedding, and spent four days in the hospital, there was nothing that could keep her from walking down the aisle with her best friend!  But since that happy day, Jess has been very ill. She’s spent four months being treated for the ongoing pneumonia, and has never stopped fighting the challenging battle against her cancer and other illnesses. 

As strong and inspiring as Jess is, she and her new family need our help. We hope to raise money towards her ongoing medical related expenses.
