Juneteenth Delaware County
Donation protected
Juneteenth Artistic Collaborative Experience is a collaborative effort of proud Americans from across racial boundaries who have come together to celebrate the freedom of Black Americans , each year we host an open, community event in celebration of Juneteenth with the goal to memorialize, educate, and celebrate our history in America.
In 1865, General Gordon Grainger entered the city of Galveston, Texas. Armed with General Order 3, he proclaimed to our remaining slaves, who were kidnapped from the border states, that slavery was abolished and that they were indeed free.
Soon afterwards, a celebration and ceremony of rememberance of this historic day of American history was proclaimed throughout the land.
Juneteenth is celebrated in over 300 cities and in the United States Territory of Guam.
Juneteenth Delaware County wishes to promote this day in American history here in our county at Rose Tree Park, so that the descendants of that place and time, never forget.
We welcome you to our story so the world may see our journey.
Donations will go towards the costs associated with hosting this year's Juneteenth event, including entertainment, decorations, tents, and more! Entertainment will consist of various performers such as Dell-P and The Children of Adam, a performance of the Grand March, and Third Colored Regiment Reenactors. Any donations are greatly appreciated. We look forward to this day of celebration with the community!
