#JuliesFight - Julie Byersmith Fund

Late January 2015, Julie Byersmith was diagnosed with a glioblastoma brain tumor. Biopsy results showed that it is cancerous.

Around December Julie started to lose a bit of strength in her left side (first her arm, then leg on and off). It was nothing she felt concerned with but then she fell trying to get out of bed. Her legs didn't want to work. Still didn't think too much of it.


On January 23, 2015, Julie came home from work more ran down than ever. She didn't do her hair or anything (and if anyone knows Julie, she takes great pride in her hair). The final "alarm" was when Julie told Stephanie she couldn't get her arm to work. The concern was that Julie was having a stroke, so she was taken to St V's.  There they did a CT scan and found a mass on her brain.


After the mass was found, Julie was taken to Toledo Hospital where they did a biopsy and found out it was cancerous. A glioblastoma brain tumor.  A fatal & aggressive form of brain cancer. The family was devastated but holding it together, ready for the fight.


After that Julie was taken to Flower to rehab and get started on chemo and radiation. Her stomach had been hurting really bad so doctors did further tests. They found out her colitis had perforated her colon & she was rushed to emergency surgery and had to have her colon removed. Looking at the positive it did make her feel better surprisingly!

This is only the beginning of her fight against glioblastoma.

Julie is a strong woman with intense faith in the Lord and though times have been rough she remains positive! Prayers are always amazing !

A little bit about the Byersmith family:

Julie is a mom & a grandmother.  An AMAZING one. Stephanie, her daughter, describes her as her best friend. 

Julie & Stephanie raise two girls together. They are Julie's grand-daughters (Stephanie's nieces). 

This fund is set up to:
1) Show Julie &  her family our support;
2) Help Julie & family to pay for any unforeseen costs and;
3) Make this road a little less bumpy for everyone involved so they may focus on #JuliesFight.

The Byersmith family has always believed that if you have it to give, give it.

Right now the family is not sure what they will need as they don't know exactly what to expect.

I, Heather Biddle, am friends with both Julie's daughters & my mom used to work with Julie. I've grown particularly close with Stephanie over the past two years. I have offered help to Stephanie time & time again not knowing where/how to help. When Stephanie reached out on Facebook for where to start asking the community for help, I took that as a sign.  Having experience with crowd funding & social media campaigning, I hope to help draw the community in for support for this amazing family!
