We need your help in raising $10,000 for Julie Kim, a Korean born girl living in Nicaragua. She is currently a 10th grader in Nicaragua Christian Academy International.  Her father is a self-employed man, so Julie and the family have not been able to have health insurance in Nicaragua. It wasn’t a problem until the past few days when her family started living their worst nightmare ever.

Please keep reading for her story.

On Wednesday, October 18, 2017, Julie started having a headache, which everyone thought that it was just  a simple cold. The headache continued on Thursday but she came down with a fever. By Friday, her fever was over 101 F and her headache got worse. By the afternoon, Julie had lost her sense of communication. She could only say “ani” ,which means no in Korean and “apa” which means dad. She also did not recognize her parents or even her closest friends; she became violent whenever anyone tried to help her and fell asleep randomly in between her screaming and hitting. As things got worse her parents decided to take her to the hospital, where she had to be tied down for the doctors to do any kind of exams on her. At the hospital Julie was admitted into ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and diagnosed with encephalitis. She has been there for 5 days and they are expecting her to be there atleast a week or more.

Encephalitis is a severe disease caused by either a bacteria or a virus which inflames the brain and could negatively affect her daily life causing the possibility of therapy in the future. As she remained in the hospital, she started to identify her surroundings, family and close friends as they visited her everyday. The only issue that still remained was her high fever. Julie took a turn for the worse yesterday and most of her progress regressed. She again wasn’t able to speak and didn’t recognize her surroundings or people. Because of this, she recently got transferred to another hospital in Nicaragua where she was given more medical attention and treatment.

Aside from the medical issues and family challenges, this family is struggling as it encounters the financial reality ahead of them:

Since they have no insurance that will help them pay the medical treatment, we will like to reach out to others for donation. Just the first night alone the hospital bill was $2,000. This second hospital is the most expensive in Nicaragua. So Any amount, big or small will be welcomed. As a unified world, we will like to start with you. Let’s work together to make a change for many others who are sick, starting with Julie.

We know the Kindness of God and our faith will make a tremendous impact on her life. We thank you infinitely for donating, every dollar will help. If you have been blessed, maybe you can help us bless Julie and her family with this burden.

Julie Kim really needs your help!!
