Julia Parks is a student artist that attends Green Hope High School in Cary, NC. She has recently won a gold medal for the nationally renound Scholastic Art competition. This prestigious award is only given to the highest caliber of student artists in the nation, being a well known and valued honor to the recipient's school and community. Gold medal winners are invited and encouraged to attend a ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City in June of 2017. Both Green Hope High School and Cary, NC will be recognized at this national platform. Following the ceremony, a gallery display of the students' work will be exhibited at Parsons School of Design and PRATT. After thier first stop in NYC, the art will continue to be displayed in the "Art.Write" exhibit around the nation for the proceeding two years. Beginning in Tulsa, OK in 2017, the art will complete its journey at the Dept. of Education and President's committee in Washington DC in 2019. Attending the ceremony and gallery of her art in New York would be an unforgettable experience for Julia and her supportive art teacher, Terry Prichard. Julia and her esteemed art teacher are raising money in order to make their trip to Carnegie Hall attainable. Funds will be used for travel and living expenses while attending this honorary event. This rare and dignified award has been a dream of Julia's since her art carreer began, and to be able to be recognized by such respected artists in New York City would be remarkable for Green Hope HS, the town of Cary, and for Julia.
